Teaching with technology



Nowadays, technology is associated with ours life. It helps teacher teaching easier and it have abilities to encourage learners attention in class effectively. Because of there are many new technologies that was created and developed everyday, it is very importance for teacher to learn and select them to use in the classroom. So how to teacher should respond to such offers?  The following idea will give the suggestions for teacher to choose the technology method suitably and how to use it to teach in class.
  Before teacher determine to use the technology, teacher should thinks and selects the best method and materials for achieving the same result, which is the good for the class. Next, teacher should be prepare and try new things out and need to be sure with the new things. Teacher must check that is ready to use. There are many technology that teacher can apply to use in the class for example interactive board or smart board. It is very high technology that has multiple useful functions, audio, video. Moreover, it very easy to use it just tabs the board with he fingers or with the specially configured pens. Smart board need to connect with computer and projector and Internet connection sometimes. The other is flip chart that uses to make a note or meaning and do the activities like gallery walk and dictogloss. Mover, Overhead Projector (OHP) is another useful for showing writing. Computer or tablet works with a data projector. It can use to present the PowerPoint and show the data, video clip and film, future more it can connect with the website which have benefit for learning like Wikipedia, Online newspaper, song lyric sites and so on.
There have many ways to organize technology using in class namely making recording by students interview member of the public and act out their own plays and then they create their own film or make oral presentation. In addition Teach can provide the online program like Zimmer twins and Voki 1 for students that allow students to make animated cartoon. They are very interesting and easily way for students to create something fun. Internet program is the famous one in this era. It provides various opportunities for learning and social interaction. Twitter, Google+, Facebook and Blogs are online social networking, which use connected with people the entire world. Teacher can use all of these for giving students to do the activities shearing information, sending the message, writhing group story and so on.  Beside that, mobile can use to participate for learning too. Because of mobiles are used by every life of people in this century, teacher can take them to use in class which set up the fun activities. For example taking a photo, texting message, using application for learning and connecting with the Internet.

    To sum up, technology have many benefit of ours life mover in the classroom also. Teacher can use technology to associate in the class. It will be encourage students in learning with the lesson. But, before use it teacher should beware. Teacher should check and prepare the technology method perfectly to use.

Teaching Speaking


            Speaking ability is the measure of knowledge a language so many learners always feel that it is harder than reading or speaking. When learners start to speak or communicate, their need to recognize pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and social and culture rules. Speaking happen in real time and when say it, it can not edit or revise like writing. The following ideas are how to teaching speaking to learner effectively. There are consist of   the principle of teaching speaking and the speaking activities in classroom.

            For teaching speaking, teaching should be aware of the differences between second language and foreign language learning context. In the second language learning context, learner have opportunities to use the target language in the language for the communication in the society but the foreign language learning context is difference. Learners have very few opportunities to use the target language outside the classroom. So the teacher take these information for considered when design the lesson plan. In teaching speaking, teacher must give learner practice with both fluency and accuracy moreover provides opportunities for learners to talk by using group work and pair work. Learners should talk as much as possible in the target language class during lessons. In addition the speaking task should involve negotiation for meaning that learners make progress by communicating in the target language. Because of the interaction provide learners trying to understand when their communicate situation.
  
            There are many activities to use in speaking classroom. The activities in speaking classroom should let learners speak and more communicate with the others. For example, information gap is activity that learners must be finding out the answers by asking their friends. Next one is the hot seat is the activity to encourage learner to speak in the rush time. The other is buzz group. Learners can quickly discuss anything from what they are going to read and what they want to do. Telling stories is a good technique for speaking, not only the learners use lot of language but also learners can tell stories all the time is real life. The last one is role-plays, it give learners to practice speaking before they must do in real communication.


            In conclusion, speaking is the one of way to communicate with the others people but is not easy for learners who learn language as the second and foreign language learning. In the classroom teacher may use the activities to give an opportunities for speaking and let’s them speak as much as possible. Evening that teacher have taught in class should support learner to use outside of the class.

Writing for the World: Wikipedia as an introduction to Academic Writing



         Academic writing is the higher level of writing so it seems too difficult for students who just begin. When students move from writing personal essays to writing academic in English, they will meet many new challenges.  How teachers can be support the students being good as writhing academic. Using the Wikipedia is the one choice for teacher to use with the students. It is the interesting way that can attractive students’ interest for writing.
         Wikipedia is a collaborative wed-based space that con be modified by any user. It is the online encyclopedia that includes 262 different languages. Moreover, it very popular website includes many information. Most of articles can be edited by anyone who accesses the Internet and they can add information, cross-reference or citations. Wikipedia offers an excellent way for students to being confronting the challenges of academic writing such as research, citation, generic conversation and style. So students can use Wikipedia to add the information by writing on it. The information that students should write is about their place or interesting tourist attraction.
         In the assignment, Students must set their own Wikipedia articles with the goal of publishing them on website and making the articles to the worldwide audience. The first step, before students start writing, they need to develop a good understanding of the website itself. Student should know what kind of commonly information and how to use the Wikipedia correctly. Next step is gathering information. Students can being to identify topic for their old article and find the associate information. After that, Students start writing by begins with the outline and then write draft that should have all the necessary content of the article. Next, Students check their work and edit and some of it need to revise. After everything is clear and perfect, the article is ready to publish on Wikipedia for the global audience.   
         To sum up, Academic writing is difficult for students who just start to write it. Students can develop academic writing by write in the Wikipedia. It allows students to use various skills and they will have the global audience. That is very interesting way for students.

Twenty Ideas for Using Mobile Phone in Language Classroom



On the presents day we cannot reject that mobile phone is very importance for every part of life. Mobile phones are used everywhere by every one. Surely most student have mobile phone which support high technology camera, Internet connection and voice memo. So how teacher can apply the benefit of mobile phone to use in language classroom. The following ideas for using mobile phone for second language learning and focus on developing skills; speaking, listening, writing and reading.The first idea is using the notes feature to collect every day language. Students can take note what they read outside the class and text massage to the teacher so student must to read every. Second is using the camera feature to take the picture of English text that they meet from everywhere and upload and share it to their friends. Third is a use free program like Evernote to organize language simple. Students can use this program to organize personal note on their account and share it with a group of the whole class. Fourth is using voice memo recorder feature to record language from media outlet; TV or radio. Fifth is using voice memo to record conversations outside the classroom. Sixth is using the text-messaging feature to encourage vocabulary learning. Seventh is using free program to make flashcards for mobile phones. Eighth is using the text message for circular writing. Because many students do not like to write so writing from textual communication becomes clear that students write a lot. Ninth is using the text message feature for tandem learning. That is for exchange the language between learner second language and the negative language by using text message. Tenth is using mobile phone to keep a blog. Students can practice writing by make their old blog and add personal experience, place and people met and teacher can give a feedback by comment on their blog.The others, eleventh is using the mobile phone for micro blogging on Twitter. Teach can use Twitter for wide variety assignments for example ask students to reports on their daily activities. Twelfth is using mobile phone for social networking. It is a good way to ask students to post on each other’s page in relation to topic that have just discussed in class. Thirteenth is using the mobile phone for a language exchange by speaking with the native speaker by Skype application.  Fourteenth is using the mobile phone “phlogging” to encourage students to practice individual speaking. Fifteenth is using mobile phone memory to distribute listening material. Student can carry it to listen everywhere. Sixteenth is using mobile phone memory to distribute material like a audio book. Students must be read it and discuss in the class. Seventeenth is using mobile phone to play a game such as scrabble and crossword puzzles that involve a focus on language. Eighteenth is using the voice memo recorder, note and calendar feature to keep a portfolio. Nineteenth is using the mobile phone to check students comprehension and get feedback. and the last one is using mobile phone memory research and data collection.Even if mobile phones have many benefit for using in the classroom for learning language but not all students in class will have mobile phone and concerns about lack of access are valid.  If teacher want to use mobile phone in the class should make sure all students have access to phone that have the capabilities teacher need and most of phone have most feature mentioned above. All of the Twenty idea above allow teacher to offer opportunities for language learning for students by talking advantage of a tool that very popular and everyone have it.

Role Plays for ESL /EFL classroom

      Role Plays are the one of the importance in the Communicative Approach  because they give students an opportunity to practice communicating in different social contexts and different social roles. Role play provides the interesting activities for learner especially young learner to ac and play as a tool to learn the language. There are the ways that to give the role play for learner follow these steps and then make student have fun with the activity.
      the fist step for the teacher is to decide teaching materials that should be the authentic material and based on students level and their interest. the second is to select the situation and create the dialogs. the situations of role plays should be selected by the learners because they can develop their thinking skill and make their own idea.  the third is teacher teach the dialog, vocabulary and sentence that is use in the role play. the fourth is to have student practice the role play before performing because it will give them more confident to act.  the fifth is to have students modify situation and dialog to create their own role play next time. the last one is to evaluate and check students' comprehension by using simple questions or asking to react the role play.
    To conclusion,  role play is a fun activity that provide learning experience. It gives opportunities for students to act and interact with their match by using English. If teacher using role play it can light up the atmospheres to get students enjoy learning easier. Role play is a useful teaching method which good for used with ESL and EFT classroom.
